The sPresso rating

Every café with a price, a WiFi test and a rating gets one number. The rating counts for half, the WiFi for 30 % and the price for 20 %. Try it.

Only from inside the café

Anyone can add a café or its price from anywhere. Rating it and testing its WiFi happen on site: sPresso checks you are within 150 metres, so every number comes from someone who was there.

sPresso starts from every café in Apple Maps and leaves out roasteries, bakeries and drive-thrus. If yours isn't there, type its name and the address fills in as you go.

No account, no ads, no tracking

sPresso uses your iCloud account, so there is nothing to sign up for. Your location stays on your iPhone: it shows the cafés around you and checks you are in the café before you rate it.

What is sPresso?

sPresso is an iPhone app for finding cafés where you can work from a laptop. It shows each café's espresso price, WiFi speed and rating, added by the people who work there, and combines them into one sPresso rating.

Which cafés does it show?

sPresso shows the cafés Apple Maps knows around you, without roasteries, bakeries, donut shops and drive-thrus, plus the cafés people add themselves.

How is the WiFi measured?

The WiFi test downloads from Apple's own speed-test servers for about eight seconds, over the café's WiFi. It only runs when you are within 150 metres of the café and connected to WiFi.

Do I need an account?

No. sPresso works with the iCloud account already on your iPhone. You rate a café once and can change your rating later.

When can I get sPresso?

sPresso is in development and coming to the App Store for iPhone. This page will link to it on release day.
